$HTTP
HTTP for Money
had to take P for money
The internet launched with a status code for money and no money in it. Circle spent thirteen years building the thing it called “HTTP for Money”. It finally shipped, on a chain where gas is priced in dollars. We took the name, and the P.

When HTTP was written, its authors knew the web would need a way to pay for things. So they reserved a status code for it — 402 Payment Required — and left one sentence beside it: reserved for future use.
It stayed empty for twenty-seven years. Every paywall, every card form, every subscription trap, every ad that follows you around because the payment was impossible — all of it grew over one unimplemented line.
This isn’t a pun. It’s a quote.
The name is the exact phrase the man who built the dollar stablecoin used to describe what he set out to make — published thirteen years before the chain existed.

Why is the coin called HTTP for Money?
Because that’s the phrase, word for word. It’s what Jeremy Allaire says he and Sean Neville set out to build in 2013, published years before Arc existed. The ticker is $HTTP and the banner carries the second reading: had to take P for money.
Is this affiliated with Circle or Arc?
No. Not at all, in any direction. $HTTP is a community memecoin that launches on Arc and is built out of a real, publicly published quote. Nothing here is issued, reviewed or endorsed by Circle.
Where do I get it?
On Arc, through the launchpad. Copy the contract address from the top of this page — from here and nowhere else — and check it character by character before you paste it anywhere.
Why Arc and not a bigger chain?
Because the joke only works here. A coin about the internet’s missing payment layer belongs on the chain built by the company that spent thirteen years trying to write it.
What’s the utility?
402 Payment Required. It’s a memecoin. It doesn’t do your taxes or settle interbank flows. It’s a bet on a joke a lot of people are going to get.
Can I lose money on this?
Yes, all of it, quickly. Memecoins have no floor, no revenue and no obligation to you. Nothing on this page is financial advice. Size it like it goes to zero, because that’s the default outcome.
$HTTP is a memecoin with no intrinsic value, no expectation of financial return and no development team obligation. It is not a security, not an investment product, and not affiliated with Circle Internet Group, Arc, or any individual or company referenced on this page — all references are to publicly published material and are used for commentary. Digital assets are volatile and you can lose everything you put in. Do your own research. Nothing here is financial advice.
